Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
The value stream map is the set of all actions that is required to design, order, produce and deliver products to customers. Identifying the entire value stream is seldom done by a company, but it almost always exposes enormous amounts of waste. A value stream map consists of the complete flow of materials, the transformation of raw materials into finished goods, and the flow of information that supports and directs both the flow of materials, and the transformation of raw materials into finished goods. The value stream map helps everyone to fully understand how a product is produced from beginning to end, and where the waste occurs. Return to Lean Training
