Professional Experience

Field Engineer — 6 years — Manufacturing-Works

Provide Lean Manufacturing Training for businesses throughout Wyoming. Manage the Economic Development efforts for Riverton and the surrounding area. Provide support and networking opportunities for the Manufacturers in Fremont County. Manage the construction of the new Brunton building — a 4.2 million dollar project. Provide computer networking and website development support to businesses throughout Wyoming.

Project Team Leader — 3 years — The Boeing Company

Lead team to develop and produce a Local Area Network (LAN) for US Airforce aircraft. Project leadership required the creation and tracking of schedules and the formation and monitoring of budgets. Guided team members performance and reported progress to customers and to program management. Project involved researching and investigating various LAN technologies and topologies and then selecting the most appropriate candidates. The three final candidates were further analyzed and researched until the final selection was made. Final results were the successful design and build of a high speed - real time computing Local Area Network. Currently coordinating the task of manufacturing the LAN switch for the program.  

Subcontract Manager — 2 years — The Boeing Company

Managed the primary subcontract for the US AWACS mission computer upgrade program. Worked closely with the customer and subcontractor to define needs and requirements and to establish priorities. Proactively resolved manufacturing process and program issues and tracked schedules and budgets. Successfully managed various retrofit activities at both supplier and home locations. Coordinated scheduled deliveries with associate contractors, suppliers and vendors.

Design Engineer — 6 years — The Boeing Company

Designed, developed and transitioned into production custom digital and analog designs. Designs included basic circuitry design, circuit board and product packaging and development of support software. The designs were all completed on schedule and on or under budget. Initial designs were placed in service in 1990 and have had no failures or repairs required in 9 years of service. Participated in Technology Insertion Planning as Commercial Off The Shelf designs were declared obsolete by commercial suppliers

Education

University of Wyoming — Laramie, Wyoming

MBA — Graduated first in the class with a 3.88 GPA. Curriculum included problem based instruction, SWOT analysis, Strategic Business Management, Decision Sciences, Advanced studies included Budgeting, Operational Analysis, Marketing, International Business Management and Economics.

BS Electrical Engineering (Computer Option) Curriculum included basic Electrical Engineering courses with additional computer science and programming courses. During senior year served as Chairman of the student branch of the IEEE. (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Passed the Engineer In Training exam towards professional certification.

Relevant Experience and Community Activities

Covington, Washington — City Founder, City Councilman — 7 years
City of Covington, Washington

Co-Chair of committee to create the city of Covington. After successful campaign, the City was incorporated in August of 1997. Ran for the first City Council and was elected with 78% of the vote. Position requires close work with other council members, community and city staff, reconciling differences and developing compromises to achieve successful results. Requires constant monitoring of state and county legislation, reporting changes and potential concerns. Also requires Identifying community financial and social needs, promoting solutions and directing staff including preparation of grant applications, volunteer opportunities and legislative action. Other responsibilities are long term community planning, public communication and conflict resolution.

Riverton Babe Ruth Baseball — Riverton, Wyoming
President — 4 years

Ran organization with over 100 participants including parents, players, board members and volunteers. Responsible for reconstruction of baseball field, implementation and design of website, and league growth of 40% over 4 years.

PC Transport — Casper, Wyoming
Member, Board of Directors — 15 years

Provide business advise and guidance to nationwide petroleum transportation firm. Firm has continually grown from a local, to statewide to regional firm with operation in five cities in three states.

King County Sheriffs Dept. — King County, Washington
Reserve Police Officer — 10 years

Work as a fully commissioned police officer to supplement the full time officers on patrol and during community emergencies. Requires dedication, patience and an ability to understand and work with all types of people and personalities.

Awards and Recognition

Received 5 Outstanding performance awards from The Boeing Company. Received an Outstanding Individual Service Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Was nominated for the Medal of Valor Award by the King County Sheriffs Department. Received the commander’s award from the King County Sheriff. Nominated as MEP Champion of the Year for National Award.

Personal Information

Design, build and maintain websites (www.rivertonbaberuth.com), build computers and setup computer networks as a hobby. Build and sail radio control model ships. Proficient at Windows, Word for Windows, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and several other software packages. Happily married for 24 years with five children.
